Andre Dirrell fights James DeGale for the vacant IBF World super middleweight title on Saturday afternoon, May 23 at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. The fight will be broadcast live as part of a Memorial Day weekend edition of Premier Boxing Championships on NBC at 4:30pm ET/1:30pm PT. Live coverage in the U.K. will begin at 8:00pm BST on SkySports 1.
Dirrells’ superior past opposition gives him a slight edge going into this fight. Dirrell has great defense & boxing skills. His ring movement will cause a lot of problems for DeGale. Dirrell has a long jab with great lateral footwork. DeGale lack of hand speed causes him to get hit way too much and this is where Dirrell will shine.
Currently on a 10-fight winning streak, DeGale last fight he knocked out Marco Antonio Periban in December of 2014. James DeGale has excellent ring movement, and boxing skills. He will need everything to beat Dirrell and maybe even a the KO. DeGale will need to stay close & capitalize on his power punches to the body. If he does this then Dirrell will have a hard fought night.
